Railroad Crossing Safety and Awareness

Northampton Police & Fire Rescue Educating the Public

NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts (August 15th 2019)- The Northampton Police Department and Northampton Fire Rescue have organized a Railroad Crossing Safety  Awarness for August 22nd 2019,  1:30 PM  to 4:00 PM at the Damon Road railroad crossing.  The mission of this operation is to provide safety awareness and bring attention to the blue and white Emergency Notification System (ENS) signs at crossings.  There will be emergency police and fire rescue vehicles in the area during this time.  

Northampton Police Officers, Northampton Firefighters,  Northampton Public Safety Dispatchers, and the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration,  will be providing informational posters to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists passing through the Damon Road crossing and bringing the public’s attention to the blue and white ENS sign posted at crossings.  The ENS sign displays the railroad’s emergency contact number for reporting safety problems and emergency situations.
