Northampton Police & Fire Rescue Educating the Public

NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts (August 16, 2017)-The Northampton Police Department and Northampton Fire Rescue have organized a Railroad Crossing Safety  Awareness for August 17th from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Damon Road railroad crossing.  The mission of this operation is to provide safety awareness, tips and education to the members of our community so that everyone can safely travel through Northampton and its railroad crossings.       

Northampton Police Officers, Northampton Firefighters,  Northampton Public Safety Dispatchers, and the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration  will be providing an informational handout  to motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists passing through the Damon Road crossing to raise safety awarness at railroad crossings and tracks.    The material has been made available to the public by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration.  More safety information can be found at www.fra.dot.gov.

The operation will last approximatley 2 hours and will consist of public safety personnel and vehicles from Northampton Police and Fire Rescue.
