The Northampton Police Department’s CPA Scheduled To Begin February 2017
NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts (October 24th 2016)- The Northampton Police Department will hold their Citizen Police Academy again in early 2017. This 7-week program will begin on February 2nd 2017 and will be held on each subsequent Thursday evening through March 16th, 2017. The hours are 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM each night. The academy will be held in the community room of the police station located at 29 Center Street, Northampton. Participants will learn about a wide range of topics including:
- Patrol Procedures
- Narcotics Investigations
- Forensic Evidence
- Domestic Violence
- Motor Vehicle Law and Radar
- Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol
- Traffic Stops
- Juvenile Issues
- Death Investigation
- Detective Bureau
- Crime Scene Processing
At the conclusion of the program graduates will have the opportunity to ride with a Police Officer and to experience policing from an Officer’s perspective. Participation in the Ride-along program is not required but is available to those who are interested.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in learning more about the realities of policing. Background checks will be conducted on applicants and they may be rejected from the program based on substantial findings in their criminal histories. This program is free of charge. There are a limited number of seats available, so anyone interested in participating in the 2017 CPA should submit their application as soon as possible.
