RAD Program

In 2016 the Northampton Police Department offered a free Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) self-defense program for women.  RAD is a nationally recognized program.  NPD offered the standard basic personal defense training that is geared toward females aged 14 years and older.  This program provides basic knowledge and skills for physical self-defense and builds confidence at the same time.

This is a 12 hour course that was held in the Cafetorium at JFK middle school.  It was held on Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm from July 11, 2016 through August 15, 2016.  Class size was limited to 12 students who must be in good physical health.  The class involves physical activities each night that build up to a simulation activity during the final class.

Currently, there are no upcoming RAD classes scheduled.  Anyone interested in participating in this program should contact School Resource Officer Joshua Wallace at jwallace@northamptonma.gov.
