Community Outreach Officers

The Northampton Police Department (NPD) works collaboratively with community members in order to address issues related to quality of life and crime.  While many of our officers engage in this form of community policing every day, some have been selected as Community Outreach Officers and have been designated to serve specific areas of our community.  These officers complete their daily patrol functions like other patrol officers, but spend some of their time out of their cruisers walking around and checking in with business owners, residents, and other community members.  They attend community meetings that are specific to their areas and work with community members to address problems.  They also serve as liaisons to those areas and are easily reachable to answer questions or hear comments.
