The Northampton Police Department was the first community in Massachusetts to replicate the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program. Officer Albert St. Onge attended the three-week training program in 1995 and has been working as the City's DARE officer ever since. Officer St. Onge works Monday through Friday and is normally scheduled to work school hours, although he often attends meeting and special events outside of these hours. He is assigned to teach in the City's elementary and middle schools.
